Lebanon introduces “Safe Exchange Zones” for residents

LEBANON, Tenn. (WTVF) – People in Lebanon who might be meeting up with strangers to buy and sell items off the internet can now do it in a much safer way.

The City of Lebanon and the Lebanon Police Department have called it the “Safe Exchange Zone.”

These “Safe Exchange Zones” are designed to give people selling items on sites like Craigslist piece of mind that they will be safe during their interactions.

The first of theses exchange spaces has been set up at the Lebanon Police Department. The zone was made to be a secured area under 24-hour surveillance; however, gun sales or gun exchanges are not permitted there.

Any gun transactions can be made at the Public Safety Emergency Services Unit Safe Exchange Zone located at 1017 Sparta Pike in Lebanon. That area is also well-lit and under 24-hour surveillance.
