Grateful Gobbler presents $165,000 to Maclellan Shelter for Families

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Maclellan Shelter for Families is grateful for last Thanksgiving.

Officials with the Grateful Gobbler Walk presented the shelter with a check for $165,000.

The money was raised by people who got up bright and early on Thanksgiving morning to walk along the Walnut Street Bridge.

The Maclellan Shelter for Families offers housing for families in crisis so they can stay together until they can find permanent housing.

It is located at the Community Kitchen on 11th Street.

“Over the past two years more than 7,000 participants have created a Thanksgiving tradition while helping families in transition by participating in the Grateful Gobbler Walk,” said Stan and Betsy McCright, Race Directors of the Grateful Gobbler Walk. “We are tremendously grateful by the overwhelming support and hope that even more people will join us in just 8 months at the 17th Annual Grateful Gobbler Walk.”

Registration is now open for this year’s event.
