Community Supported Agriculture Open House at Crabtree Farms

Crabtree Farms welcomed people out Sunday for their 2nd annual Community Supported Agriculture Open House.

The event allowed farmers to network and connect to potential customers.

The open house provided families in the Chattanooga area to learn more about the variety of farm shares offered.

There are more than 100 farms in the Chattanooga area alone.

Community Supported Agriculture allows people to invest in a farm share at the start of the year.

The customers then receive fresh produce, meat, or eggs each week.

Crabtree Farms Program Coordinator,

Andrea Jaeger, said CSAs allow farmers and the Chattanooga community to work with each other.

“CSAs are a great way for people to make an investment in the food that they eat. they can get a much deeper appreciation for their food, by knowing their farmer. Actually going in some cases to the farm to pick up their share…seeing how their food is grown. It’s a really great way for them to connect.”

Crabtree Farms will have 2 workshops dedicated to spring gardening next weekend.
