City council subpoenas District Attorney General over VRI

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga leaders held a work session on the Violence Reduction Initiative Tuesday.

Judges, politicians and federal prosecutors were there.

But Hamilton County’s District Attorney General was not.

Instead, Neal Pinkston released a statement in which he complained that the city was not consulting him on the VRI plan.

“They (city council) haven’t bothered to call me at any point in the past 24 months to discuss the VRI or the way my office prosecutes cases.”

The council’s response was unheard of.

They issued a subpoena for the local D.A.

Chattanooga City Councilman Chip Henderson talked about the subpoena on News 12 This Morning.
