2 kidnapped girls returned safety to Murphy, NC

MURPHY, NC (WDEF) – A Murphy, North Carolina man has been charged with kidnapping two young girls.

On Saturday, their parents reported the girls were missing from their home.

Cherokee County investigators say 43-year old Jose hector Alvarado drove them to South Carolina without the parents consent.

Deputies there found the girls and returned them home.

Alvarado faces charges of First Degree Kidnapping and Felonious Restraint.

Sheriff Derrick Palmer stated “We are in the early stages of this investigation. We are being assisted by Federal agencies and anticipate additional charges. I want to commend the responding deputies both here and in Anderson County South Carolina as well as our communications personnel. Their dogged effort to locate these minors was outstanding and instrumental in bringing them safely home.”
