Country Superstar donates to local Animal Shelter

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – A Country Superstar Miranda Lambert is helping out a local animal shelter by giving them a $1,000 grant.

Over the weekend, Mckamey Animal Center was surprised to learn they have been awarded the grant by Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation.

Because the year 2020 made it difficult for volunteering, the program expanded eligibility to include people who volunteered, adopted or fostered for their local rescue. A Foster volunteer nominated McKamey for the grant

Executive director of McKamey says this grant will help the shelter with life saving supplies and procedures for rescued animals.

“Not only do we provide general care, we actually provide specialized treatment for animals that either need specialized surgeries or need long term treatment for diseases like heartworm. Those are things we might not be able to treat for animals that we may not be able to place for adoption , if we don’t have the funds for that,” says Igna Fricke , Executive Director of McKamey Animal Center.

Fifteen shelters across the U.S. were awarded the same grants as part of the foundation’s “Share the Love” program.
