$2 Million Powerball Winner in Knoxville

Nashville, TN (WDEF) – As the jackpots for Mega Millions and Powerball reach higher than ever before, a Powerball player in Knoxville won $2 million by matching all five white numbers drawn—just one number shy of the jackpot.

The base prize for matching the five white numbers drawn is $1 million. But because the player added the Power Play for an extra $1, the prize is $2 million.

And the weekend brought even higher jackpots for both games: Mega Millions has shattered all lottery records, now standing at $1.6 billion, while Powerball has grown to $620 million.

The Lottery has raised more than $4.4 billion to fund designated education programs, including after-school programs, scholarships, and the Governor’s Drive to 55 initiatives.
