2 sentenced in May theft that netted 50 guns

SELMA, Ala. (AP) – Two men have been sentenced on federal charges in connection with an Alabama business break-in and the theft of more than 50 guns.

The Selma Times-Journal reports that the crime happened in May.

Prosecutors said 25-year-old Jabriel Bell was sentenced to 46 months and 35-year-old Fortune Hoppins was sentenced to 57 months in prison.

Last week’s sentences were imposed after Bell and Hoppins pleaded guilty in July. Bell pleaded guilty to stealing firearms from a licensed dealer, and Hoppins pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms.

Prosecutors said 28-year-old Stanley Young has also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms. Young’s sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 22.
