Fallen Firefighters Honored with Stair Climb
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The 15-year anniversary may have been a week ago, but Tennessee Valley residents continue to honor the first responders killed in the September 11 attacks.
On Sunday, hundreds of firefighters, police officers and civilians climbed several flights of stairs at the downtown SunTrust building in the victims’ memory.
It’s for the third annual Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.
Organizers say they enjoy giving back each year.
“It’s a brotherhood,” said Mike Rush, event coordinator. “If we can do something that might take care of one of our brothers that gets killed in the line of duty, we’re happy to do it.”
Money raised from the event benefits the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
