2022 CMT Music Awards to Air on CBS Monday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — It’s almost time for country music’s only awards show where the fans vote for all the winners.

The 2022 CMT Music Awards is happening Monday night, airing on CBS for the first time.

Kane Brown might not be hosting the show this year, but he’s still making a big name for himself as the artist with the most nominations.

The Tennessee Valley native is up for four awards, including Video of the Year, and Male Video of the Year for his song “One Mississippi.”

Kane is also performing at the awards show.

Other nominees include Riverbend Festival headliner Brothers Osborne, still fresh off their first Grammy win last weekend.

They’re up against Kane for CMT Performance of the Year.

Another Riverbend performer is up and coming country star Brittney Spencer, who’s going for her very first CMT award.

She’s up for CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year.

Other highlights we can expect? Country music legends The Judds will be performing together on a nationally televised award show stage for the first time in more than 20 years.

We’ll even hear from country favorites Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Keith Urban.

Show producers also just announced even more new acts, including collaborations with Thomas Rhett and Riley Green, plus Little Big Town, Monica, and Jimmie Allen.

Celebrity presenters include CBS Mornings’ own Gayle King, along with actors Taylor Lautner, Dennis Quaid, and many more.

“Captain America” actor Anthony Mackie will join Kelsea Ballerini as co-host.

News 12 will be in Nashville for the awards show Monday night in the middle of all the action, so make sure you tune in starting at 5:30 p.m.

The show itself will air live at 8 p.m. ET.

Voting for most of the categories has already closed, but you can still vote for Video of the Year, and a new category – Trending Comeback Song of the Year.
