23-Year-Old Found Dead in her Home
Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – Detectives are investigating the death of a young woman this afternoon, after she was found dead in her apartment on Poplar St.
Neighbors tell News 12 the victim’s name is Aisha Bearden, and today was her 23rd birthday. A large crowd gathered outside of Bearden’s home at the College Hill Courts, as family members and loved ones continue to search for answers.
Chattanooga police said Bearden’s family members called 911, after finding her dead in her apartment. They told officers they went looking for her after they hadn’t heard from her in a couple of days.
“My whole family out here,” said one of Bearden’s cousins Coco.
“On the Fourth of July we’ve got to celebrate a death instead of her birthday. It ain’t right, that ain’t right. I can’t say nothing else.”
Police said Bearden was the only person home at the time, and the cause of her death is still unknown.
However, Police reported that inspection of the victim’s body revealed trauma. Due to the victim’s injuries, Investigators opened a homicide investigation into this case.
Family members describe Bearden as a young sweet girl, who loved to dance and make everyone around her smile.
