Tennessee Prepares For Rivalry Game With Vanderbilt

Tennessee and Vanderbilt may not be considered a great rivalry, but it’s still a rivalry.
Said Vols offensive lineman Brett Kendrick:”We don’t like to lose to Vanderbilt. That sticks with you the whole year until you play them again the following season.”
Said Vanderbilt offensive lineman Barrett Gouger:”Emotional game. Rivalry game, but you’ve got to keep your emotions in check. You can’t get too high. You can’t get too low.”
Said Vols head coach Butch Jones:”When you look at the history of this series, it’s always a hard fought football game. It always usually comes down to the wire. It’ll be the most challenging game we have on our schedule. That’s the way it has been.”
The SEC East title may be out for Tennessee, but they still might have a shot at the Sugar Bowl with a win over Vandy.
Said Kendrick:”Yeah we can feel the pressure I guess, but there’s not really another spot we’d like to be in. We love pressure. If you have pressure on you then that means you are doing something right.”
Vanderbilt on the other hand needs a win to get bowl eligible.
Said Vandy head coach Derek Mason:”For us we need to go get everything there is to get. I mean we’re not going to leave any meat on the bone. It’s time for us to go eat. It’s time for us grow up. It’s time for us to put down the little boy toys and pick up the big boy toys and let’s play football.”
Should be fun watching a Tennessee offense that has averaged 55 points in their last three games go up against a stingy Vandy defense.
Said Dobbs:”Vanderbilt is a very disciplined defense. I mean their red zone stats show it. Number one and number two in the country in red zone stats.”
Said Mason:”Josh Dobbs is as good a quarterback as I have seen on tape. In the midst of not having Jalen Hurd, he has been the inside run threat, and he’s dangerous.”
