25th Anniversary of Coolidge Park
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – One of Chattanooga’s most beloved landmarks and parks is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
This is a celebratory weekend full of fun-filled activities for all ages to enjoy.
The activities this weekend included vendors, food trucks, art festivities, ice cream, outdoor games, and more.
Coolidge Park, which got its name from Medal of Honor recipient Charles H. Coolidge, has continued to spark joy through and through.
The Park had its grand opening back in October of 1999, which was complete with a circus, laser show and a parade.
As the celebrations continue, community members are able to show their appreciation to the park by riding the historic carousel.
The carousel that sits now in Coolidge Park was actually built back in 1894, operated in New York and Georgia until 1999 and then brought to Chattanooga to be enjoyed by many and become the iconic landmark of the city it is today.
Along with the anniversary festivities, the Between the Bridges Local Art Festival also took place this weekend.
This festival, which started back in 2020, consisted of about 50 local artists participating to display and sell their artwork in a fun, festival atmosphere.
Other events include the 7 Bridges Marathon, half marathon, and/or 5k which will take off and finish in Coolidge Park to commemorate the park’s quarter-centennial.
