3 taken to hospital after early morning crash on I-75

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, East Ridge Police were called to a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 75 south near the Springcreek bridge.

East Ridge officials say the crash involved two tractor trailers and five cars.

According to officials, a pedestrian was struck and thrown over the guard rail as he exited his vehicle.

Authorities say three people were take to the hospital with one in possibly critical condition.

Southbound lanes on Interstate 75 were closed for about an hour, police say.

East Ridge officials say a clean up had to be called in because of diesel spilled on the road.

Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
