They are four of 34 schools across the state to achieve this feat and are being honored by the Tennessee State Department with the Anne Dallas Dudley Award.

The principal at Lookout Valley, Lee Ann McBryar,  says they hold a voter registration drive every year as 18- to 25-year-old voters to vote less than other age groups.

She said, “Much like the Secretary of State said, we want our seniors to go out there and be civic leaders in the community, because it is the most underrepresented population in that 18- to 25-year-old. So, we want our kids to use the right to vote.”

So far, only 12,549 votes have been cast in Hamilton County for next week’s primary elections.
