5,000 lbs Cleaned Up from Chickamauga Lake this Weekend

Five thousand pounds of trash was cleaned up from Chickamauga Lake this past weekend.

Twenty – five Volunteers with Keep Tennessee Rivers Beautiful worked tirelessly to remove the trash.

The pickup in Soddy Daisy took two days to complete.

Items removed from the lake included bags of trash, tires, computer monitors, plastic barrels and more.

iSustain Recycling sponsored the trash pick up event.

Kathleen Gibi, Executive Director for KeepTNRiverBeautiful says, “It’s really an eye opening experience for a lot of volunteers because we’ll get into Coves with nothing but plastic bottles, and styrofoam on the ground, and you’re not even walking on the ground. Then, when we leave there’s no trash left behind it’s nothing but nature, it’s a very gratifying experience.”
