7 inmates charged with one of the stabbings at Silverdale

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Hamilton County investigators have now made arrests in the rash of stabbings at the Silverdale Detention Center last weekend.

Seven inmates have now been charged with the first incident that happened Friday night just before 8PM.

An inmate was stabbed, taken to the hospital, treated and released.

The suspects are:

• Dewayne Lawery

• James Dupree

• Leonta Epps

• Christopher Kenney

• Luster Deloney

• Jesse Ridley

• Xavier Bickerstaff

The each face charges of attempted first degree murder, riot and contraband in the jail.

Later that night, five more inmates were stabbed.  Three were treated at the hospital.

But investigators say none of those victims are cooperating and will not prosecute their attackers.

Hamilton County officials only acknowledged the attacks after media inquiries based on family members complaining that officials would not tell them what happened.
