Mocs Offensive Line Hopes to be “Meanest and Nastiest Bunch in the Country”
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The Mocs were near the bottom of the Southern Conference in offense last season. In order to seek immediate improvement this season, UTC beefed up their depth on the offensive line, which they hope will beef up the offensive attack this fall.
While the Mocs quarterback battle may get the most attention at practice, it’s the offensive line that’s got the attention of head coach Tom Arth.
Said Arth:”The offensive line really in my opinion is the heart and soul of your program. We will go as they go. They are such an important part of our team. How they perform. How they prepare. The way that they communicate and play together really determines your success to a pretty significant extent.”
The Mocs didn’t have much offensive success last year, finishing 100th in the nation is scoring offense.
Said lineman Harrison Moon:”We want to prove something. Last season is last season. This is this season. We’ve got something to prove.”
Aded lineman Malcolm White:”We don’t dwell on the past. We are not going to dwell on anything negative. You just come out every day and try to get better.”
Reporter:”Do the offensive line as a group have any goals at all?”
Said Moon:”Just be the meanest, nastiest bunch the country has ever seen. Just impose our will on anyone and everyone. I don’t care who lines up in front of us, we are going to dominate them.”
Said White:”Definitely a big deal to come out and be mean, especially at a position like offensive line. You want to come out. You want to get better. We want to get the run game going. We’ve got good, experienced backs like (Alex) Trotter. We’re just ready to get going.”
It’s hard to play nice when you’re looking for success in the trenches.
Said Moon:”You want to be a nice, well-cut guy off the field and everything, but when you put that helmet on, it’s fair game. You’ve had a bad day or something. You had a bad day in class like a hard test or something. Just take it out. We’ve got pads on. They’re protected. Let’s just take it out and have fun.”
