River City Robotics Club shows off their competitor for national competition

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Move over R-2-D-2.
The river city robotics club is working overtime to build the next robot of the future.
The group hosted its annual robot reveal today at the E-P-B practice field, to show off the machine members have spent months working.
Family, friends and teachers were invited to the event, as students from several area high schools participated.

This was the group’s last time to show off the robot, before it’s officially sent off to be judged in the World Wide First Robotics competition.

Robotics coach Olivia Bagby describes the students’ input.

“They do everything, from the design of it to the actual building of the electrical, the mechanical, the pneumatics, every piece of this is 100 percent the kids.”

10th Grader Eriel Sales says “It’s a lot of hard work, but you–once you start to do it’s worth it and it’s fun working with other people, and just learning how to do different things. And it makes you feel really good when you’re doing stuff like that.”

The group submits the robot on February 23rd.
