Four homicides in Chattanooga in September, Still down 40% from last year
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – September was a busy month for Chattanooga’s homicide investigators.
The latest homicide happened Saturday morning around 3:45 a.m.
The Chattanooga Police say Ladarean Lane and an unidentified juvenile are charged with the shooting death of Areeyon Lane.
The Juvenile confessed, according to Chattanooga Police.
Last week, a 19 year old Shawnquell Stanfield was shot and killed and Chattanooga Police say a Juvenile confessed in this case as well.
Stanfield is a graduate of Hixson High and friends held a vigil for her last week and she will be laid to rest at the end of the week.
Here’s a breakdown of the 4 homicide investigations launched in September.
Two people have been arrested in the homicide of Norman Sullivan from Vance Ave. The shooting happened September 3rd.
Again, one arrest was made in the Stanfield homicide. She was killed September 24th.
18 year old Te’ unte Rice showed up at the hospital with a gun shot wound and died over the weekend. Rice was killed September 28th.
The latest Areeyon Lane was killed on the 25.
A total of 5 arrests.
There have been 18 homicides this year so far.
30 homicides on the record for last year… which is a 40% decrease.
