20 Year Old Dies in Fall on Signal Mountain

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, TN (WDEF-TV) – The body of a 20-year-old man was spotted early today near Signal Point after an all night search.

Dalton Downing of Memphis was visiting when he apparently took a walk on the steep mountain trail Monday evening.

About 7 AM rescuers spotted the body about 100 feet below the trail.
A specially trained rescue team rappelled down the slope and recovered the victim’s body around 10:30 A.M.

Downing’s father notified authorities that he was missing late last night.
