Head of the Hooch race on the river

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The presidential visit isn’t the only thing bringing people to Chattanooga this weekend.

The annual Head of the Hooch competition starts tomorrow and lasts through Sunday.

Expect more than two thousand boats to race up and down the Tennessee River, as part of one of the largest racing regattas in the world.

The Hooch brings more tourists to the Scenic city than almost any other event.

Barry White with the Chattanooga Visitors Bureau said “I think with Head of the Hooch you’ll just see a little bit of traffic flow in and out of downtown through both Saturday and Sunday but you shouldn’t be scared to come downtown. It should be a beautiful fall weekend.”

Head of the Hooch wraps up well before the president is scheduled to arrive, so the two events should not interfere with each other.
