Investigators arrest suspect for Mercy Tabernacle fire in Benton

BENTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Bradley County man has been indicted for arson in connection with the fire that destroyed a church in August.

32 year old Jon David Hembree was arrested on Monday after being indicted two weeks ago.

The TBI, Benton Police and Tennessee Fire Investigation Services investigated the case.

The fire happened overnight on August 15th.

It destroyed three buildings at the Mercy Tabernacle Church on Clemmer Ferry Road in Benton.
