Alabama and Georgia Prepare For Another Championship Showdown

It’s the SEC championship game we all expected to see before the season started.
Alabama vs Georgia. The two teams dominated league play in the regular season, posting a combined 23-1 record.

Since Nick Saban and Kirby Smart are friends, it’s easy to praise each other’s team.
Said Saban:”When it comes to playing against Georgia who is in my opinion one of the best most complete teams in the country.”
Said Smart:”They’ve got a great team. I don’t think anybody would argue that. They’ve got very few deficiencies in any area.”
One thing both coaches don’t want to talk about is last year’s national championship game which the Tide won in overtime.
Reporter:”Looking back on the decision to change quarterbacks midway through the game.”
Said Saban:”I’ve talked about this a thousand times. It was what we felt we needed to do to help our team have a chance to be successful in the game. It worked out. So everybody thinks it was a good decision. If it wouldn’t have worked out, everybody we be talking about what a bad decision it was.”
Reporter:”How much does what happened in January do you think push your team a little bit or provide a little extra edge or go a little bit harder this week?”
Said Smart:”I really think to each his own. I mean that’s not a motivating factor for me.”
Saturday’s game may not look like January’s game since these are the top two scoring offenses in the SEC.
Said Smart:”Talented quarterback. Explosive offense. First thing you notice when you turn the tape on is how fast and how much they score.”
Said Saban:”They are one of the top ranked teams on offense in terms of point production. Ability to run the ball. Make explosive plays. Quarterback does a really good job for them.”
Coach Smart sums up Saturday’s showdown the best.
Said Smart:”They’ve got an extremely talented team. We respect that, but we’ve also got a good football team.”

The Tide and Dawgs kick at 4pm Saturday on News 12 Now.
