Golden Apple: Kathleen Collins

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Kathleen Collins has spent more than 30 years teaching students.

But this is her last year as a Math teacher at Sequoyah High School.

Collins sees herself as a friend to the students, who she shows them what they can achieve.

She says there is a reason she has been an educator for 31 years.

“I’ve been here for a long time because I love it. I love teaching and what I do and this year I’m retiring so after 31 years. But so I’ll miss the
kids a lot.”

The kids say she has taught them much more than Algebra and Geometry.

Those students say Collins is very quick to help them, even with other classes she’s not teaching.
