Name a baby porcupine at the Chattanooga Zoo

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A porcupine family at the Chattanooga Zoo has a new daughter. The zoo teamed up with the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) to host a naming contest for the newest addition.

You have until Friday, February 17 at 5 p.m. to submit a name for the baby porcupine.

After the submission period ends, over 500 TVFCU employees will vote for the four best names. Then, TVFCU social media accounts will allow the community to decide the best name.

They say the winner will get tickets to a groundbreaking ceremony in March. They will also receive a one-year membership to the Chattanooga Zoo.

The Chattanooga Zoo’s porcupine family has one daughter already. The family consists of father Tommy Prickles and mother Pookie Prickles.

Additionally, the oldest porcupine daughter is Penny Prickles. TVFCU said they had the honor of naming Penny.

The new porcupine exhibit at the zoo is part of their Africa 2 expansion. They plan to start construction on the exhibit early this year.

You can find the contest rules on the TVFCU website.
