McKamey Animal Center worked with apartment fire victims

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — While the Integra Vista apartments were still on fire, McKamey Animal Center stepped in to help.

Many residents of the Hixson apartment building were pet owners.

Firefighters were able to rescue every pet which was trapped inside the apartment while it was ablaze.

McKamey then worked on site to reunite owners with those scared animals.

Seth Watson Director of Animal Services at McKamey Animal Center told us, “Luckily, at the scene of the fire, we were able to reunite all the animals that we had in our custody with the owners right then and there. If we weren’t able to do that, we would’ve brought the animals back to McKamey Animal Center and we would have posted them online look for microchip information, look for any information on callers to do everything we could to contact the owners to reunite the animals.”

McKamey is working with residents who’s cats ran away, setting up cat traps to hopefully find every last one.
