Police honors for Sgt. John Monroe

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The community laid to rest Chattanooga Police Training Sgt. John Monroe on Tuesday.

Sgt. Monroe died unexpectedly last week.

He received full military honors at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Sgt. Monroe served in the Marine Corps and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, before joining the police department in 19-99.

Instead of flowers, the family asked that anyone wanting to give, make a contribution to the Marine Wounded Warrior Project.
