Affidavits Detail Weekend Chattanooga Homicides
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It was a deadly weekend in Chattanooga.
Four suspects in two separate homicides are now facing the most serious of charges, and two affidavits are shedding more light on these homicides.
On Friday afternoon before 5 p-m, Chattanooga Police say that Deountay Brown was murdered at his residence on the 3300 block of Dodson Avenue.
Police say they have arrested three people in connection with this homicide.
They have arrested 19-year-old Henry Davis, 20-year-old Marvin Menifee, and 34-year-old Renyatta Lowe.
They are all charged with First Degree Murder.
In an affidavit, Police say Davis entered Brown’s residence for five to six minutes with a ski mask on.
After leaving, detectives say surveillance video shows Davis entering a red car, later identified as a 2006 maroon Lincoln Zephyr, where Menifee and Lowe were also present.
Shots then rang out from the vehicle towards the residence, where Brown was struck.
He later died in the hospital.
The three suspects were eventually pulled over on Saturday night and arrested in a traffic stop.
They each have a 500-thousand dollar bond and are booked inside Silverdale.
They are due in court next Tuesday, April 25th.
The second homicide of the weekend occurred on the 12-hundred block of Peeples Street.
Police say they’ve arrested 39-year-old Reginald Jamell Holland in the murder of Ashley Coyne.
The affidavit in this case states that police were called to Peeples Street shortly before 11:30 Sunday Evening.
Police say that Holland got into an argument with another man near a homeless camp that both frequented.
This is roughly two blocks away from the Chatt Foundation on East 11-th Street.
Police say they knew each other before the altercation.
The male victim attempted to flee the scene with Coyne in his car.
That is when according to police, Holland brandished a handgun and starting shooting at the vehicle, striking Coyne.
She was taken by car to a hospital where she later died.
Police note that Holland could’ve easily struck innocent bystanders who were in the area, many of them homeless.
Holland was later arrested, and he is being charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Reckless Endangerment, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
A bond nor a court date have yet been set for Holland.
There was also a third shooting on Saturday night at the intersection near Aquarium Way and Chestnut Street.
Police say a 16 year old suffered non-life threatening injuries in that shooting, and no arrests have been announced in that case.
