CBL responds to terror threats against malls
WASHINGTON (AP) – A video purported to be from Somalia’s al-Qaida-linked rebel group al-Shabab is reigniting terrorism fears in the West.
The narrator on the video urges Muslims to attack shopping malls in the U.S., Canada, Britain and other Western countries.
U.S. officials say there’s "no credible" evidence suggesting an imminent U.S. mall attack but security is being stepped up.
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF News 12) – We asked Chattanooga based mall developer CBL to react to the threats.
They responded with this statement:
"We, like many other businesses and industries across the country, have been under a heightened sense of security following the days of 9/11. This is the norm now for us in terms of security measures. Our number one priority is to provide our shoppers, retail partners, and employees with a comfortable, convenient and enjoyable experience. We have numerous security procedures in place (seen and unseen), some are noticeable by our shoppers and others are not. We cannot discuss any of these measures as that would compromise our security efforts."
