Supermarket Guru Report for Feb. 23rd
Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s NoGii Protein D’Lites Chocolate Caramel Bliss.
This is one of the most satisfying and delicious protein bars on the market. It is gluten free and crispy, and chocolaty and caramel-y. Elisabeth Hasselback formerly of the View and now Fox & Friends came up with the recipe for herself – she has celiac disease and she has done a fabulous job. This one ounce bar has 8 grams of protein 7 grams of sugars and 4.5 grams of fat. This is the perfect size. Retails for $22.50 for a 1.1 lb box of 18 bars.
Surf Sweets Watermelon Rings is a HIT.
Sure it’s candy. But everyone has a sweet tooth sometimes, and if you are going to indulge it – indulge it with these. A nice watermelon flavor Certified Organic without any artificial colors or flavors. No Corn syrup or High Fructose Corn Syrup made from organic cane syrup with real fruit juice concentrate. $ rings will set you back 130 calories and 23 grams of sugars so indulge, but just a little. Retails for $2.19 for 2/75 oz.
Love Beets Baby Beets Sweetfire is a HIT.
Beet salad has made it on to just about every good restaurant these days. But when is the last time you ate beets at home? This brand has made it easy. These are already steam cooked and ready to eat. Comes in a variety of flavors, but my favorite is this sweetfire marinated in white wine vinegar, a little salt, a sugar, some chili pepper and extra virgin olive oil. These are great. Use them as a side dish or just for snacks. Half of this package is just 60 calories, 0 grams of fat but it does have 12 grams of sugars. This will change the beet business! Imported from the UK. Retails for $2.99 for 6.5 oz.
The Republic of Tea Get Clean® Stackable Tea Tin is a HIT.
Finally people are understanding the mind-body connection. And what we eat and drink makes a difference in how we feel. I just love this idea. A two week herbal tea cleanse. A different tea for the morning, during the day and at night. The AM blend is designed to release toxins and is spearmint, cucumber, lemon verbena, dandelion and gotu kola. The All Day stimulates the liver to further release toxins and is rooibos, milk thistle, sarsaparilla, dandelion, chicory, burdock and red clover. And for nite time its all about coping with the stress of the day and building energy with alma berries, ginger, hibiscus, cinnamon, monk fruit and schizandra berries. As with all Republic of Tea products – they are all delicious. Retails for $13.50 for 1.92 oz.
Barbara’s Better Granola Oats & Honey is my PICK OF THE WEEK.
This is the way to start breakfast! What you can’t tell from the photo on the package is that these actually look like mini mini shredded wheat – but these are so much better tasting. Only 7 grams of sugars and 3 1/2 grams of fat with 10 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber and 30 grams of whole grains per two-thirds cup serving. Unlike so many granolas this one doesn’t taste too sweet. To top it all off it also includes Flax, Chia, Quinoa and Amaranth. So good and so good for you. Retails for $3.99 for 10 oz.
