Inmate escapes on foot in Grundy County

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – Grundy County authorities are looking for an escaped inmate on Monday.

The Sheriff says Ronald Pernell Fults was being escorted from the Courthouse to the Detention Center this morning when he slipped out of his shackles and ran into the woods.

Deputies have searched the woods and used a drone with no results into the afternoon.

“Deputies are still searching the area as well as conducting traffic stops and checking abandoned buildings and houses.”

56 year old Fults is from Beersheba Springs.

He was arrested last fall on a variety of driving offenses, including DUI.

If you see him, do not try to apprehend him.

Instead, the Sheriff asks you to call his office at 692-3466 or call 911.
