Suspect in Concord Road Apartment shooting fled he scene but wrecked on I 24
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have made an arrest in the shooting at an apartment complex on North Concord Road on Thursday.
There were actually two incidents at that apartment.
The first involved an assault around midnight.
Then 45 minutes later, the assault suspect returned to the scene and was shot in the parking lot.
Police report Luis Ramirerz-Guerrero was in critical condition, yesterday.
They say the shooter fled the scene, but soon wrecked on I-24.
Witnesses say they saw Hector Velez throwing items from a bridge after the wreck.
Detectives recovered a gun they believe was used in the shooting with the help of a K9.
They say Velez claimed he shot the man in self defense.
But a witness told them that the man had his hands up and was trying to surrender when Velez shot him.
Velez has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.
