New Wood Burning Stove Regulations

        The Environmental Protection Agency recently passed the first regulations on wood burning stoves since 1988.
        They go into effect March 31st.
        It requires the any wood burning stoves for sale to burn less wood per hour.
        The EPA is concerned about long term health consequences of residents breathing in ash and wood fibers.
        However James Jackson of Ringgold views it as an attack on the poor.
        "People can’t afford the power bills right now if you heat with electricity you’re looking at three to four hundred a month and people with fixed income they can’t live with that," said Jackson.
        The stove in your home doesn’t have to meet new EPA Requirements, but any new wood burning stoves must be up to standards.
