Firefighters work three hours to extinguish Dunlap house fire
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — Dunlap residents returned home Monday afternoon to find their house was on fire. It took firefighters three hours to completely extinguish the flames, fire officials said.
The residents found the fire just after 2 p.m. at their home on State Street. They safely retrieved their pets from the home, according to the Dunlap Fire Department.
The house was old and was being remodeled prior to the fire.
Some rooms in the back of the house became heavily damaged from the fire. And the fire department said the entire house is damaged due to smoke, water and heat.
Dunlap firefighters requested mutual aid due to the high heat index.
Many citizens stopped by to bring water and refreshments to the firefighters, and Dunlap Fire Department thanks them.
The fire department said no firefighters were injured while working to extinguish the fire.
