Stolen ambulance leads to Marion County standoff with peaceful ending

MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A police standoff happened Monday night in Marion County but ended peacefully, according to Franklin County officials.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office got reports that an ambulance was stolen in Franklin County, Tennessee.

Deputies said the suspect drove the ambulance down I-24 eastbound toward Marion County.

The ambulance then stopped at exit 155, by Highway 28, in Jasper. That’s when deputies said they made contact with the suspect and realized they were armed.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted to end the standoff peacefully.

Marion County deputies say the suspect is now in custody and will be facing charges.
