Former Coahulla Creek Teacher Indicted For Having Sex with Student
Dalton – (WDEF) A grand jury in Whitfield County, Georgia has indicted a former teacher at Coahulla Creek High for having sex with a student.
But she refuses to be labelled a sexual predator.
Our media partner, The Dalton Daily Citizen, reports that Elizabeth Scroggs of Ringgold will plead not guilty.
The 32 year old instructor was accused in January of having a relationship with an 18 year old student.
She has resigned her job and surrendered her teaching certificate, but will fight being put on the sexual offender registry.
Her attorney tells the Daily Citizen “I just don’t think the legislature intended for something like this … this kind of situation. Both of them contend it was a very consensual and short-term relationship.”
