Three Hamilton County cities receive Tennessee Municipal League awards

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The cities of Collegedale, Lakesite, and Red Bank recently received awards at the Tennessee Municipal League conference in Nashville.

The TML honors cities throughout the state for their excellence, improvement, programming, or accomplishments. They held their conference on July 25 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.

Out of the 15 awards given statewide to municipalities, Hamilton County received 4.

The City of Lakesite received the Excellence for Small City Progress award for the past year’s accomplishments. More than 50 years since the city establishment, the population has grown from 500 to over 1,850. The city recently created their first strategic plan for optimization and maintenance for their community.

Collegedale Public Works Department was awarded for Excellence in Public Works  for their efforts and response to the Norfolk-Southern train derailment in December 2022.

Additionally, Collegedale’s Commissioner Katie Lamb was honored as the recipient of the Bob Kirk Leadership award for being an outstanding public servant to the community.

The City of Red Bank’s Johnny Ledford received the Murphy Snoderly award for outstanding work in public works.

All three cities are part of the Hamilton County Small Cities Coalition which fosters collaboration in legislative matters.
