Mayor Kelly’s State of the City address
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – “The state of our city is strong,” said Mayor Tim Kelly.
Thursday night, Mayor Kelly addressed Chattanooga.
“Thank you everybody for being here tonight, I can’t see you, but I know you’re out there, theoretically.”
Some of the conversations were about Mayor Kelly’s One Chattanooga plan.
“That was the plan. The genesis of the plan was my blueprint, my thesis for how we find our way to that spot of really being the best city in the United States. And I fervently believe that Chattanooga has the potential to do that,” said Mayor Kelly.
Other topics came up, like homelessness. Mayor Kelly said “I think 800 people, year to date, which is almost a 67% increase over last year which was a huge increase. More people keep coming, and frankly we don’t know whether they’re being evicted from current housing or if they are coming here from elsewhere. Which we are currently looking into if there is a pattern there.”
Road improvements…
Mayor Kelly said, “We are on the road back to good road conditions. You can see we turned the, just barely turned the corner. Inflation wasn’t our friend. That 10 million bucks this year did not go nearly as far as it went last year, so we are going to have to find some more money to put towards it. Again, we paved 40,000 potholes, 40,000 potholes.
And even a certain poll that got Mayor Kelly fired up.
“Look, I mean the WalletHub study is just BS, I mean we broke it down. I mean it is,” said Mayor Kelly.
According to Mayor Kelly, The State of Chattanooga is strong.
