Signal Centers aims to help families affected by Siskin closings
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — One Chattanooga nonprofit is attempting to provide assistance to those affected by the closings of some Siskin childcare centers.
On Thursday morning, the Siskin Institute announced they were closing their early learning centers.
Signal Centers, in a press release, said they are a long-time partner with the Siskin Children’s Institute, and hopes to support their children and families during this change.
The nonprofit says many families are probably seeking childcare options with the closing of some Siskin centers.
“We have launched a Siskin Families Seeking Child Care effort to expedite Siskin families seeking assistance,” Signal Centers CEO Donna McConnico said.
The Tennessee Child Care Resource & Referral Network (TN CCR&R) is a program of Signal Centers.
TN CCR&R says they are reaching out to local childcare providers to find other ways to support these affected families as well.
They are doing so by:
- Informing childcare providers of Siskin’s closings,
- Determining which childcare providers have openings,
- Helping with accommodations for children with disabilities, and more.
