Storm damage, flooding causes Monroe County road, school closures
UPDATE:
All Monroe County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, August 16 due to flooding and water supply issues, WVLT reported.
The Town of Tellico Plains, Tennessee has also implemented a boil policy advisory.
Flooding had caused the town to not have access to water, but they once again have access.
The town says the water will be safe to drink only after it has been boiled. They said the advisory will last at least a few days.
The Cherokee National Forest previously said the public should avoid the areas of the Tellico Ranger district due to storm damage. They said many trees were down as well as other damage.
The forest service now says some campers got blocked in campgrounds due to the overnight storm. Their crews are working to clear the debris and free the campers.
