Chattanooga looks to extend Glass Recycling program for a year

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The City of Chattanooga is announcing updates regarding two of its environmental pilot programs: glass recycling and food scrape composting. The City is looking to extend the Glass Recycling program for a full year.

As for food composting, residents can continue to recycle their food scraps at five designated recycling centers across the city with New Terra officially concluding curbside collection services on June 30, 2026.

For those currently using the curbside service, please note the following key dates:

June 19th, 2026:  Final deadline for residents to submit any service change request
Week of June 22, 2026: Final curbside collection services will be performed
June 30th, 2026: Curbside program officially ends

The City encourages residents to attend the June 16th Council Meeting or visit Chattanooga.gov to learn more about how they can participate in the ongoing green initiatives.
