UPDATE:

The Rhea County sheriff has provided an update into this situation, that the object did not actually fall out of an airplane.

Rhea County authorities learned the object actually came from a local tree service.

That business contacted the sheriff’s department stating they had lost this piece of equipment Thursday morning.

The tree service was working nearby. They said pressure applied to the cable caused the cable to break. Then, the piece of equipment flew off and landed on the car.

Rhea County authorities have updated the FAA on the new information.

They said the business is taking responsibility for the damage caused.
