CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Carriage Company is donating a retired carriage horse to the Blazing Hope Ranch. This will support the horse’s well-being and the therapy the ranch gives to female human trafficking survivors.

The Chattanooga Carriage Company describes the Percheron draft horse, Jerry, as a gentle giant. They say he has played an important role in the growth of the carriage service. The company explains that Jerry has a kind and gentle nature.

In addition, the Chattanooga Carriage Company says their mission aligns with that of Blazing Hope Ranch. Both emphasize the importance of animal-assisted therapy, healing and personal growth.

Non-profit Blazing Hope Ranch provides therapy and aid to female survivors of human trafficking, in a Christ-centered environment. The ranch says their purpose is to “change the outlook and trajectory of the lives of women who were robbed of their dignity as precious creations.” They provide a nurturing environment for those working to overcome trauma.

Meagan Sparks, Jerry’s owner, says donating him to the ranch will give him a meaningful retirement. “Jerry’s story is a reminder that retired carriage horses still have a purpose beyond the feed mills,” Sparks said. “Blazing Hope Ranch is providing him with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of survivors, just as he did for us.”
