House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announces impeachment inquiry into President Biden

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDEF) — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy officially opened an impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden. McCarthy said the House’s Oversight Committee has found a “culture of corruption” in the Biden family.

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings,” McCarthy said. “Eyewitnesses have testified that the president joined on multiple phone calls, and had multiple interactions, dinners, resulted in cars and millions of dollars into his sons, and his son’s business partners.”

According to McCarthy, bank records show that nearly $20 million of payments were directed to Biden’s family through various shell companies.

He added that “a trusted FBI information alleged a bribe to the Biden family.” McCarthy also claims President Biden used his official status to work with his son, Hunter’s business partners, including Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company.

U.S. House Representative John Rose issued a statement following the impeachment inquiry announcement.

“I wholeheartedly support Speaker McCarthy’s decision to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. House Republicans have uncovered substantial evidence that suggests the president may have been involved in his son’s nefarious, unethical, and potentially illegal business dealings but have been stonewalled by the Biden Administration in our good-faith efforts to uncover more evidence. An impeachment inquiry, which is far different than Nancy Pelosi’s political impeachment of Donald Trump, is a logical step toward bringing accountability to the White House.”

Local congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has been involved in the impeachment inquiry as well.

Whitehouse spokesperson Ian Sams took to Twitter in opposition of the impeachment inquiry.
