CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Early Thursday morning, a car traveling at a high speed through the East Ridge Tunnel crashed into a tree upon exiting the tunnel.

The car caught on fire shortly after.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, the Engine 9 responded to the scene, but there were issues with their arrival due to the steep terrain and vegetation overgrowth.

The fire was extinguished, but unfortunately the victim was found deceased inside the car.

This is the second car wreck at the same location in a span of two weeks.

Karen Ortiz died in a car wreck in the same spot on September 10.
