Leslie Jordan Honored with Star on Palm Springs Walk of Stars

PALM SPRINGS, Ca. (WDEF) — Tuesday, October 24 marks one year since Chattanooga native and Emmy award winning actor Leslie Jordan passed away.

Now he’s being recognized with his own star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars in California.

Leslie’s sister, Cricket Jordan, accepted the honor on his behalf last Friday.

Palm Springs City leaders also presented a Proclamation of Leslie Jordan Day.

“I think Leslie would say that winning the Emmy and having the star in Palm Springs is the ultimate recognition, so I’m proud of him,” said Cricket Jordan. “[Leslie] was very humble in the fact that he never kept any of his awards. He sent them all to me in Chattanooga, so I have them all – hundreds of keys to cities and plaques and trophies and everything. I think that Leslie, the one thing that he did that just amazed me was the fact that he only kept the Emmy in his house. Everything else went, because he wanted us to have it so the family could be proud of him.”

Jordan won that outstanding guest actor Emmy in 2005 for “Will & Grace,” and appeared more recently on “Call me Kat.”

He died last October from sudden cardiac dysfunction after a car crash.

Jordan was 67.
