Hamilton Co. Coalition prepares for drug take back this weekend

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Coalition is preparing for National Drug Take Back day this weekend.

Attendees will be able to dispose of any unused, unwanted and expired medications.

Over the past decade, Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications to prevent overdoses.

Organizers hope this event bring awareness to properly dispose various medicines.

“A lot of people kind of know where to take their medications to dispose of them or how to properly dispose of them. But there are still some people who are just unaware, so we would like to put it out there that you know the best way to dispose of medications is when we’re having drug take back events, or at your permanent disposal locations,” said Calandra Smith, Assistant Director of the Hamilton County Coalition.

The Hamilton County Coalition is partnering with state, local and federal law enforcement agencies to host drop-off sites.

Those drop off sites are available on Hamilton County Coalition.
