Soddy Daisy First Baptist celebrates second annual pie festival
SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The second annual Soddy Daisy Pie Festival was held Sunday afternoon at a local church.
Soddy Daisy First Baptist started this festival last year in lieu of regular trunk-or-treat celebrations around Halloween.
Instead, the church gathers members of the community for pie tastings and auctions with different festivities.
Kids and adults participated in a pie eating contest and brought in homemade treats to be auctioned off.
Members of the church and guests joined for the second annual event Sunday afternoon.
Senior Pastor Brandon Johns said, “We just want to love on the community that we love. Being able to do something like this, to bring people from all around our area, to come out just to have a good time… We want them to walk away feeling good, having a good sense of community and knowing that First Baptist loves them and wants to minister to them across all lines.”
Johns mentioned that there were also Gospel inspired prizes at the event to incorporate their mission.
The event featured music from Dallas Bay Church along with lots of pie and fun activities.
