East Chattanooga Suntrust to Remain Open
The last remaining bank serving several East Chattanooga neighborhoods has agreed not to close.
Suntrust officials informed city leaders last week that their branch on East Third street would be closing.
But with a joint effort among several leaders convinced them to stay, but there are some conditions.
They need the community to participate in more of the services they offer like loans, credit, and opening more accounts.
"We just appealed to their good judgment their better conscious that it was the right thing to do to stay and not desert this community," said Councilman Moses Freeman.
The Councilmen say there will be educational services to help the people of those neighborhoods take advantage of what the bank has to offer.
